Applying for a GLAA Licence
There are two ways to apply for a licence, either online or by calling our helpline on 0345 602 5020 and selecting option 1.
To apply online
- register with the Government Gateway to create a user ID and password, which ensures your information is secure and confidential
- once you have your user ID you can log in to begin your application

I have forgotten my user details
If you have forgotten either your user ID or password you can reset it here. If you have forgotten both your user ID and password, email email@example.com and we will arrange for your details to be resent. Please allow 7-10 working days for these to arrive.
What information will I need?
Before you begin your application you will need to have details of your business such as your VAT registration number, turnover and unique tax reference number, and personal information such as the address, date of birth and national insurance number for the principal authority, directors and partners of the business.

You will also need to make sure you meet the conditions of the licensing standards.

How long does it take?
Once your payment has cleared your application will usually be processed in six to eight weeks. However, please be aware that this timescale is provided as a guide only and some applications will take longer.
During this period we run checks with other government departments and enforcement agencies, and your application inspection will be carried out. For more information on how the GLAA's inspection process works read our Inspections explained document.
How do I apply for a business not in the UK?
If you are applying for a licence to provide workers from outside of the United Kingdom (UK) you will need to attend an inspection with a GLAA officer. You will receive written details of the inspection and the information you will need to bring with you once your application has been completed. We may also contact the authorities in the country you are based in for further information.
