Man arrested over modern slavery
10th May 2018
Four alleged victims of modern slavery have been safeguarded following action by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) in the West Midlands.
Officers arrested a 38-year-old Romanian man in Great Barr today (Thursday 10 May) on suspicion of modern slavery following allegations he has been withholding wages.
Two men and two women – all Romanian and aged between 28 and 56 – were working in the warehouse packaging industry. They have now been rehoused and were offered ongoing support and advice.
The suspect has been released under investigation as the GLAA inquiry continues.
